6 Reasons to Start Meditating

6 Reasons to Start Meditating Today

All the lesser-known benefits

Meditation is one of the most misunderstood, distorted and undervalued concepts out there. Many articles on the internet will tell you that meditation is a technique to relax and be more calm in the moment. Others sell it as something to be done for hours, in unnatural positions. Some think it is something that belongs to a specific religion, like Buddhism. And then you also hear that meditation is that practice that clears your head of thoughts and allows you to control your emotions.

Yet all of these definitions are incorrect and fail to adequately capture the true essence of this concept.

I don’t know why you ended up here reading this article, because you want to know more about meditation, but to overturn any preconceptions or ideas you may have about what meditation might be, I will tell you that meditation is more of a quality than a “thing to do”.

Cultivating your mind, knowing how to use it masterfully, learning not to be controlled by it, being aware, are skills, qualities that will be present with you all day at all times and will allow you to react to life differently. This “meditative” state is obtained thanks to a process, namely the practice of meditation.

To meditate in Tibetan means “to become familiar with,” or “to cultivate the self.”

Meditation is a tool for personal development, for introspection. It helps you get in touch with what you have inside, your thoughts and emotions, to reach, by removing layer after layer, your true essence. It means knowing how to get out of your identification with the body and mind and the Ego and observe yourself from the outside without judging yourself, with neutrality. It means knowing yourself. It means empowering yourself.

It is therefore not reduced to a practice in which you close your eyes and relax your body. You often close your eyes to remove external stimuli and thus facilitate introspection, but there are also walking meditations, during which you have your eyes open and you are active.

Before I get into the list of benefits of meditation, I want to warn you of something important. Since it is a practice that is part of a process, do not fall into the trap of thinking that you only need one meditation session to get all the benefits. Yes, sometimes you can do a meditation and feel relaxed afterwards, but the truth is that you can experience the enormous benefits and transformations that meditation can bring you, only after a daily, constant and long-term practice.

So what are the reasons why you should start meditating now?

1. Removes weight from your life

Meditation does not add, but removes everything that weighs you down, bringing you back to your natural state: one of joy and serenity.

It makes you lighter:

    • The mind
    • The thoughts
    • The emotions
    • The baggage of the past
    • The concerns
    • The stress
    • Anxiety

It reduces memory loss and cures depression. Thanks to this ability to remove, it then allows you to:

      • sleep better and more deeply
      • Be more energetic
      • Have a calm and serene mind
      • Have greater mental clarity
      • Increase the strength and duration of attention and concentration
      • Finding greater creativity
      • Be more present
      • Be more serene and happy

It’s a panacea for your mental health, it’s a practice you can’t do without.

With constant practice, even when you are not with your eyes closed, you will be able to notice how much more present you are and how much less lost in your thoughts. Being present will allow you to see the world with new eyes, with greater interest and joy, and to be naturally more serene because you have a sense of greater connection with yourself. You will be able to enjoy all the moments of your life fully.

      2. Change your brain and its neural connections

There have been many studies done on the brain, often examining the brains of Buddhist monks who meditate daily for many years. But other scientific studies such as those carried out by Dr. Joe Dispenza have also yielded truly sensational results.

Meditation literally changes your brain and its neural connections. The amygdala is the part of the brain that commands, triggers and manages your emotional reactions to a given experience, that decides whether what you are experiencing is dangerous or not, and therefore whether it is necessary to trigger the survival reaction, what we call stress today. With constant and consistent practice, the size of the amygdala decreases! And people who meditate are in fact able to remain in a natural positive state of calm more permanently, and are shaken much less by life events.

The veil of fog given by the pessimism that our thinking brain tends to have is lifted and we will be able to see the world with different eyes.

Meditation also plays a role in protecting your chromosomes, slowing down aging, and not getting sick easily.

      3. Raise awareness

Awareness is the key to solving every problem. Most human beings live life on autopilot. Once certain habits and mental mechanisms are established, they become so deeply embedded in our brain that we no longer realize that they are commanding our life and making us always do the same things. And so we always recreate the same reality. After all, as Einstein said, how can you expect a different result if you keep repeating the same things?

In fact, instead of meditating to relax, meditate to feel and experience. Feel the emotions that reveal themselves when you are there listening to yourself without other distractions. Allowing yourself to feel the emotions that come to the surface when you meditate is the key to healing, because until you feel them, you do not recognize them, you do not see that they are there, these emotions and negative energies remain repressed and blocked inside you. By listening to them, experiencing them, you allow yourself to process them and let them go. And only as a consequence will you be able to feel more serene.

Meditation allows you to notice your emotions that you have not listened to over time and to recognize all the redundant and limiting thoughts that you continue to listen to. Meditation allows you to become aware of your beliefs, often unfounded, that limit you in your life.

It allows you to understand that some things you believe to be true are actually beliefs that were passed on to you by others, perhaps even in childhood, but that are not yours. It allows you to realize the uselessness of the baggage that you have been carrying around, increasingly heavy, for years.

Once you become aware of what is driving the autopilot in your life, you can decide what changes you want to make to improve your life.

      4. It brings you back to a higher frequency

Our natural state as living beings with a soul is that of love and joy. Each emotion has a specific frequency, just like radio frequencies. In fact, there is a scale of human emotional frequency that positions different emotions according to their frequency. Negative emotions have a lower frequency while positive emotions have a higher one. In this sense, we are like a life preserver. We naturally float high, in the high frequencies of joy, peace and love. If we attach a chain with a weight of 50 kg, this life preserver will be brought down to the depths of the sea and will not be able to stay high, on the surface. Likewise, experiencing negative emotions is natural, but if we remain in a negative emotional state it is because there is something that keeps us down, fixed in the lower frequencies, and prevents us from naturally returning to the surface.

Meditating allows you to let go of everything that is weighing you down, of negative emotions, of the past and of the old way of being that you have established over the years, and you will naturally return to states of joy and happiness.

      5. It heals you: your past and your body

Chronic diseases are simply a result of a constant low emotional frequency, a state of being that has this frequency. The same goes for emotional and psychological difficulties such as depression and anxiety. They are simply the result of a way of being practiced consistently over the long term that has become part of our identity.

By way of being we mean everything you think, feel and do.

With meditation you can create new neural connections, turning on less and less the automatic ones that have strengthened over the years. By creating new connections you can literally start thinking, feeling and doing different things. And so you will be able to transform your life completely.

Always taking Dr. Joe Dispenza as an example, many people who have followed his meditations and who have understood what his scientific studies have found, have managed to change their bodies, create a successful business, make late-stage tumors and deadly diseases disappear, find their soul mate and heal from pain and chronic conditions.

      6. It allows you to create a new future

Through meditation, you will be able to realize that as a human being you are the actual creator of your reality, which is nothing more than your mirror of what you are. And therefore, if you want to change your life, being the reflection of what you are, it would make little sense to try to change something from the outside. It would be like trying to change your face using makeup on the mirror. The origin is you. So to change something in the external world, you have to work on your internal world, on what is inside you. The power of meditation is precisely this: it allows you to eliminate everything that does not serve you, weighs you down, automates your life in a certain direction and creates a new future for yourself, which is not tied to your past. Meditation allows you to be able to experience the emotions of the future in the here and now, immediately, just with the simple practice of visualization and by doing so it will make you change frequency. On the quantum level, with a new frequency you will be able to attract the right opportunities and your desires, thus achieving your goals. Whether they are related to health, money or relationships. It does not change.

Meditation literally changes your life. All you need is a place to sit or lie down, your breathing, and a few distractions around you. By practicing daily you can truly empower your mind and body. And over time it will make you realize that being “human” means being “super human”. Have I convinced you?
